God So Loved

by Andrew Bergthold, Ed Cash, Franni Cash, Martin Cash, and Scott Cash

Some song lyrics just say it all and need no explanation. I knew the first time I heard “God So Loved” that it was one of those songs.

Who does He love? The weary, the thirsty, the failures, the addicts, the sinners . . . the WORLD. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 2 Peter 3:9, John 15:13)

How do we know this? He sent His one and only Son to save us - that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life (John 3:16-17)! He invites us to His well of living water (John 4:13-14), to His banqueting table (Luke 14:15-23), and, ultimately, He invites us to surrender our lives to Him and receive redemption because of His finished work on the cross (Romans 3:23, 5:12, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10, 10:13). Christ has defeated hell (Revelation 1:17-18) and has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him.

Come all you weary

Come all you thirsty

Come to the well

That never runs dry

Drink of the Water

Come and thirst no more

Come all you sinners

Come find His mercy

Come to the table

He will satisfy

Taste of His goodness

Find what you’re looking for

For God so loved

The world that He gave us

His one and only

Son to save us

Whoever believes in Him

Will live forever

Bring all your failures

Bring your addictions

Come lay them down

At the foot of the cross

Jesus is waiting there

With open arms

The power of Hell

Forever defeated

Now it is well

I’m walking in freedom

For God so loved

God so loved the world

Praise God

Praise God

From whom all blessings flow

Praise Him

Praise Him

For the wonders of His love
