Though it's been quite a while since we've actually sung this, there have been so many in our church family struggling with illness - from short-term to long-term, from minor to serious. I myself am in that number. Even though we acknowledge the Lord God as our ultimate Healer, sometimes it's good to stop and remind ourselves what scripture tells us about healing. God is more than able!! So, here are the lyrics to this beautiful song and some of the scriptures that support it.
Let's take a few moments to reflect on the truth about God, our healer and then another few moments to lift one another up in prayer, praying these verses over those among us in pain and struggle. The Lord, our God, HEALS!
You hold my every moment
O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.
You hem me in—behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Psalm 139:1-5 (NIV)
You calm my raging sea
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27 (KJV)
You walk with me through fire
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23 (KJV)
And heal all my disease
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows
I trust in You
You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.
Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)
Lord, I trust in You
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:3-8 (NIV)
I believe You're my Healer
I am the Lord who heals you.
Exodus 15:26 (NIV)
I believe You are all I need
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:19 (KJV)
If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
I believe You're my portion
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:25-26 (NAS)
I believe You're more than enough for me
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Psalm 55:22 (NIV)
Jesus, You're all I need
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
Acts 17:24-28 (NIV)
Nothing is impossible for You
What is impossible with men is possible with God.
Luke 18:27 (NIV)
You hold my world in Your hand
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:16 (NIV)
"See, I have engraved you in the palm of my hand..."
Isaiah 49:16 (NIV)
